Vitamin B5

What is Vitamin B5?

Pantothenic Acid commonly referred to as Vitamin B5 is a type of water-soluble vitamin that falls under the B Vitamins family. Its primary role is serving as a constituent of Coenzyme A, a cofactor involved in numerous enzyme-catalyzed reactions that facilitate the metabolism of various macromolecules. The macromolecules play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the skin layers and enhancing their resilience. Dexpanthenol is a commonly used name for this vitamin in cosmetic products.

What advantages does using vitamin B5 offer for your skin?

Healing agent

Recent research suggests that Dexpanthenol is a highly effective skin healing agent. It can regulate gene expression and stimulate the proliferation of fibroblasts and epithelial cells, both of which are critical for proper wound healing. Additionally, Vitamin B5 can accelerate the healing of skin that has been damaged by the excessive use of makeup products. This rejuvenates and revitalizes the skin, ultimately boosting one's confidence.

Moisturizer

Vitamin B5 functions as a humectant, serving two purposes. Firstly, it draws moisture from the surrounding air, captures it on the surface of the skin, and then penetrates deeper into the skin layers to absorb water vapour. Secondly, it stabilizes the skin barrier and prevents water from evaporating from the skin. These actions help to maintain the skin's hydration, softness, and elasticity. Due to its ability to attract and retain moisture, Vitamin B5 is a common ingredient in cosmetics and personal care products, such as hair conditioners, facial and body cleansers, body lotions, and lip balms.

Anti-Inflammatory

Research indicates that the application of Vitamin B5 on the skin can decrease the likelihood of experiencing irritation and itchiness due to UV radiation exposure or radiation therapy. Vitamin B5 exhibits impressive anti-inflammatory characteristics, which can minimize redness and erythema resulting from environmental toxins and skin conditions such as Atopic Dermatitis.

Protection for scalp

Vitamin B5 shields the scalp with its anti-inflammatory, healing, and moisturizing qualities. By infiltrating the hair cuticle, it moisturizes and plumps up the scalp while maintaining its hydration. It provides a safeguard against environmental and styling-related harm to the hair. Additionally, Vitamin B5 imparts a lustrous and healthy appearance to the hair.
