Castor oil is derived from the seeds, also known as beans, of the Ricinus communis plant, which is indigenous to East Africa. Interestingly, these beans contain a poisonous substance called ricin, which is highly toxic.

Despite certain parts of the plant being toxic, castor oil has been utilized for medicinal purpose.
