Beauty Standards We Should Leave Behind

Beauty Standards We Should Leave Behind

The beauty industry's trends are always changing, and that's usually a good thing. This year, we've seen a range of new beauty treatments and trends to try and enjoy. However, there have also been some risky ones that stick around for too long because people believe they offer benefits and are easy to access.

Here are a few trends that we recommend leaving behind.

Excessive exfoliation

While exfoliation can effectively eliminate dead skin cells, it's vital to be cautious about its frequency. Overdoing it can lead to inflammation, redness, and breakouts, which can be harmful to your skin.

Scrubbing excessively

Scrubbing too much can harm your skin. It can cause irritation, redness, and sensitivity, making your skin feel uncomfortable. Excessive scrubbing can also lead to dryness and flakiness, and it might even make your breakouts worse. It's important to be gentle and not overdo it when scrubbing your face to keep your skin healthy.

Over-the-top glossy skin

Everyone desires radiant skin, but using excessive amounts of a single product or combining multiple products can harm your skin. Applying too much product can clog your pores, leading to issues like blackheads, acne, and irritated skin.

Bleached eyebrows

The bleached eyebrow trend has gained popularity among many individuals, but it's crucial to approach it with caution. While bleaching can provide a fun appearance, leaving the bleach on for too long can damage your natural eyebrows and potentially result in hair loss. Additionally, bleach can irritate the skin and cause breakouts. If you're interested in trying this look, do so carefully and consider using concealer instead, as hair loss in the brows can be irreversible.

Neglecting SPF

Forgetting to use sunscreen can be dangerous. Remember to apply sunscreen on your eyelids, fingers, ears, and neck whenever you're outside. If you don't, you could get sunburned, experience inflammation, and in some cases, even develop skin cancer.

Home Peel Treatments

Many at-home peels are safe for your skin, and you may do using AHAs( alpha hydroxy acids), BHAs( beta hydroxy acids), and retinol. When it comes to taking care of your skin at home, we recommend using safe and effective peel pads. However, it's important to be cautious with professional-strength acids that contain carbolic acid (phenol), which has gained popularity lately. These acids can sometimes cause various unwanted and potentially harmful effects on the body, including allergic reactions. It's best to stick to safer alternatives to ensure the well-being of your skin.
